Product Roadmap
Shows a timeline on X-axis and product lines on Y-axis. Bars show product availability. Product roadmap has many management uses:
- Formulate and communicate product strategy
- Communicate product availability schedule to customer
- Provide a foundation for marketing campaigns
- Guide resource allocation
In the InspiRD App, product retirement is defined as the highest defined level of maturity. Market availability is then defined as the level of maturity before retirement. For example, if maturity level of 5 indicates market introduction and level 6 indicates retirement, the product roadmap will show availability of products over time for each product-line.
To generate a product roadmap,
- Enter the report generation window from the Product domain
- Select Product Roadmap from the first drop down
- Select the output type you desire, such as, PowerPoint in the second drop down
- Use the filter dialog box to select the products you want to include in the roadmap
- Use the zoom buttons and scroll bar to fine-tune the Gantt panel.
- Show legend as required and use the customize button to optimize the grid portion of the view
- Click the PowerPoint button to generate a roadmap output
