Add Requirement
The Add button in Requirements tab opens a dialog box that allows you to add a new requirement. Two primary kinds of requirements are possible in the InspiRD App (Please see Terminology for more details):
Originating Requirement
- Switch to Requirement tab, select the source project for the requirement in the navigation panel.
- If the right project is not the visible, turn the nav panel carousel to left and select the right basis platform
- Turn the carousel back to show projects
- Alternatively, if switch to portfolio tab and select the right project and switch back to the Requirements tab.
- If the right project is not the visible, turn the nav panel carousel to left and select the right basis platform
- Click the Add button and fill out the information in the dialog box described below.
Derived Requirement
- Switch to Requirement tab, select the source project for the requirement in the navigation panel.
- If the right project is not the visible, turn the nav panel carousel to left and select the right basis platform
- Turn the carousel back to show projects
- Alternatively, if switch to portfolio tab and select the right project and switch back to the Requirements tab.
- If the right project is not the visible, turn the nav panel carousel to left and select the right basis platform
- Select the originating requirement in the content panel
- Click the Add button. Select the source project for the new derived requirement. You are able to add derived requirements to a project’s children project, sibling projects, or parent project
- Fill out the information in the dialog box described below.
If you cannot find the project you want to use you want to use, it may be because you don’t have read access to the project. Please talk with the project owner to make appropriate changes.
Add Requirement Dialog box
Select Project Drop down:This field is shown for adding derived requirements. Select the project for which the derived requirement is to be added. It is possible to add a derived requirement to the source project for the originating requirement, its parent project, its siblings and its children. Please select the correct project from the drop down box. The input requirement data:
- Title is used to identify requirements throughout InspiRD Suite. Please limit the title to less than 40 characters if possible. However, please be detailed enough to make sure that the requirement is clearly identified regardless of use
- Description provides more details about the requirement. Please be as descriptive as possible and communicate the use the requirement clearly. Once the requirement has been added, you may attach documents with more detailed information, graphics, etc. To do this, edit the requirement and go to the Attachment tab to upload files.
- Start Date provides the date when work will be started.
- Delivery Date provides the date when the project was / will be completed.
- Requirement Type, Requirement Priority, Requirement Status provide various properties of the current requirement based on selections made by your administrator.
- Baseline, Goal, Actual: Provide performance objective values: Baseline, Stretch Goal and Actual
- % Satisfied: Provide % work completed towards satisfying this requirement.
- Additional fields selected by your administrator may be present.
All fields marked with an * are required at a minimum. Add button will be disabled unless all required fields are filled.
At the bottom of the Add dialog box, an Owner sub-panel is available. Use this sub-panel to assign ownership of the new element to another user. Owners receive notifications about changes affecting the requirement.
Please note that the add button is disabled if:
- A project is not selected
- the selected project is a link adjunct
- the user does not have RW access to the source project
In addition to logging the generation of the new requirement, the InspiRD App makes a log entry in source project indicating that the project was added and by whom. Email notifications are sent to the owner of the parent (if enabled). If the source project is a link prime, all its link adjunct copies are updated automatically.
It is possible to define different types of links between originating and derived requirements. If your administrator has enabled this feature, please select the type of link from the drop down box.
