Projects Tab
All R&D activity is part of an organization’s project portfolio. All projects such as R&D projects, market needs, etc. can be added, edited, and viewed in the Projects tab under the Portfolio tab. Different views are shown for each domain: Technology, Product and Markets/Missions/Indications (Please see Terminology for details).
The Portfolio tab defaults to a Navigation panel view. The view is divided into a navigation panel and a content panel. The navigation panel shows the portfolio architecture defined under the Architecture tab. On the right, the content panel displays a grid with projects for selected platform.
Expansion button (arrow head) to the left of the Title column is used expand and collapse architecture. Click the horizontal arrow to expand the tree and show next level of architecture. Click the down arrow to collapse the tree and hide the corresponding level of detail.
The portfolio tab defaults to Product domain. To switch to any domain, select it from the domain selection drop-down in the navigation panel.
Other views such as Gantt are available and can be selected via toolbar button.
In Technology view, the navigation panel shows Technology Area platforms. Each area platform can be expanded to show technology discipline platforms. Each discipline platform can be expanded to show technology platforms. Selecting a Technology Platform (Level 3 in the Technology Hierarchy) displays related projects in the portfolio in the content panel.
Projects made of multiple phases or lasting multiple years are shown grouped together by default. A + sign is shown to the left of the continuation group to ungroup them. A – sign is shown next to the base continuation project in the continuation chain to group them back.
In Product view, the navigation panel shows Product Line platform. Each platform can be expanded do display subsystem platforms etc. Selecting any platform displays projects for that platform in the content panel. The Market/Mission/Indication view, is similar to Product view. Please contact your administrator for further details and customizations.
Large product projects can be divided into subprojects corresponding to components and subsystems corresponding to platforms defined in the hierarchy. Based on this structure, InspiRD Suite automatically tracks interdependencies, controls configuration and allows reuse of components across products. Market domain entities are similar to Product domain projects.
If you cannot find the platform or project you want to use, it may be because you don’t have access to the project. Please talk with the project owner to make appropriate changes.
